San Francisco 49ers rookie wide receiver Ricky Pearsall was shot in the chest during an attempted robbery on Saturday afternoon in Union Square. The incident unfolded around 3:37 p.m., as confirmed by the San Francisco Police Department.

Pearsall, just 23 years old and drafted 31st overall in the 2024 NFL Draft, had been in the area signing autographs before heading to Union Square.

A 17-year-old male suspect from Tracy, California, attempted to rob Pearsall, leading to a physical altercation between the two.

During the struggle, multiple shots were fired, resulting in both Pearsall and the suspect sustaining gunshot wounds.

Emergency Responds Instantly to Treat Ricky Pearsall

Police officers arrived at the scene shortly after receiving a 911 call about the shooting.

Both Pearsall and the suspect received immediate medical attention and were transported to San Francisco General Hospital.

According to official reports, Pearsall is currently in serious but stable condition.

San Francisco Police Chief William Scott stated that there is no evidence suggesting Pearsall was targeted because of his status as a professional football player.

The suspect, who was apprehended at the scene after attempting to flee, is currently in custody, and charges are expected to be filed early this week.
