Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay quarterback, No. 8, chose the JETS and has moved to New York.

Press Deliverance by Aaron Rodgers

Before Aaron Rodgers joined the JETS, Rodgers said he had been “90% retired”. “That chapter is over now and I’m excited about the new adventure here in New York,” Rodgers was heard saying this, now.

Later he also said “I’m not here to be a Savior of any kind.”. He just wants to be a great quarterback.

Rodgers was offered the No.12 jersey but he opted for the No.8 out of respect for Joe Namath, the JETS legend.

Even though he was hesitant when talk turned upon his long-term plans, he said, “I’m going to be here for the foreseeable future”. Later on the quarterback added, “This isn’t a one and done in my mind,”. “I want to be fully committed to this season.”

In the event that Rodgers decides to retire at the end of the season, that will create a situation where the JETS might be without both him and a first-round pick in 2024. Aaron Rodgers counts $32.5 million in 2024 and $15.8 million in 2023 against the JETS Salary cap.

Rodgers played 18 seasons in Green Bay and won the  NFL Most Valuable Player, four times. He grew to be one of the game’s most effective quarterbacks and helped the Packers win one Super Bowl.

Rodgers Fitment into JETS

The JETS have a young core team with Garrett Wilson and Sauce Gardner. One of the reasons why Rodgers chose the JETSs is his belief in the core team of GM Joe Douglas and his new head coach, Robert Saleh.

“I’m an old guy, so I want to be at a place that can win it all and I believe we can do that here,” he said.

“That Super Bowl III trophy is looking a little lonely,” Rodgers said. Probably hoping to add another to it. Go for it !!!!

“It was the JETS, and only the JETS for me,” Rodgers said after the press conference.
