As President Joe Biden is staying abreast of the mass Shooting situation at the Medical facility in Atlanta, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre addressed the press.

Karines Press Address

During the afternoon briefing Karie urged the people to heed guidance from officials and keep themselves safe. Adding that the incident increased the President’s concern over regulations needed for Gun Control

The Biden administration has included Gun Control legislation as one of their poll agenda.

Karine also emphasized, “American people should be able to feel free to go into a Grocery Store, to go to a Church,”. “Our kids should feel free and feel safe, and our teachers, administrators should feel safe to go into a School. And right now, we’re seeing weapons of war on our streets, which should not be.”

Given that disagreements over Gun laws seem to centre more on their effects than on their goals, scientific research on these issues is crucial especially in areas where the evidence is currently lacking.

There is solid proof that legislation prohibiting children from having access to Guns and requiring guns to be secured works. These laws have reduced both incidental and intentional self-inflicted harm and teen fatalities.

The Biden administration has pushed for a ban on assault-style firearms. It has also enforced the requirement of background checks for all Gun Transactions.

Senator Warnocks Endeavor for Gun Control

A couple of hours before the Atlanta Shooting Senator Warnock pushes for Gun Control.

Since beginning his tenure in office in January 2021, U.S. Sen. Raphael Warnock has occasionally discreetly railed about Congress’ inaction. He bemoaned to his colleagues and advisers how party differences and ingrained habits frequently prevented the passage of Gun Control legislation.

Senator Warnock About Atlanta Shooting

Raphael Warnock, spoke about the Shooting at Atlanta medical facility and urges for Gun Control legislation. Sen. Warnock stated in an interview, “I won’t Stop until we do something, and I don’t have to listen to my six-year-old daughter explaining to her dad that today a bad man was Shooting and we were on lock down.

Warnock remarked in his Senate statement, “This is routine”, “We behave as if this was normal”, “We are not safe in our Schools, our Workplaces, our Grocery Stores, our Spas, our movie Theatres, or our Houses of worship.” “There is no sanctuary in a Sanctuary,” the Speaker said, referring to the Senate.

The DMI Mission

The Drum Major Institute‘s President, Arndrea Waters King, and Chairman Martin Luther King, III, issued the following statement in support of Warnock.

“Once again, we find ourselves trying to make sense of another tragic Shooting. Our family has been a victim of Gun violence and know the pain being felt by the victims’ families today. While the facts are still unfolding, we do know that one life has been lost and several injuries reported. On what was an otherwise a beautiful Atlanta today, instead has turned to tragedy. Enough is enough.

“Our family has never just accepted the status quo when injustice is occurring, and today is no different. No nation sees Gun violence at the levels we are seeing in America today. We have a responsibility to call for Change. We cannot afford to become, DESENSITIZE THIS. It’s happening everywhere – nearly every day – in Schools, in Grocery Stores, and now in the middle of a major American City. Thoughts and prayers from elected officials who think more Guns on our streets is the answer is insulting at this point. We aren’t just calling for change – we’re demanding it.”.

He further added,

“This year, we mark the 60th anniversary of the March on Washington, and while we’ll take to the streets of Washington to call for Change in August, we need Action now, because words are not ENOUGH.”
