THE GROWTH

In an unexpected turn of events, Fallout 76 Steam has seen a remarkable surge in its player base on Steam, reaching its highest-ever concurrent player count nearly six years after its initial release. This sudden increase in popularity can be attributed to the recent premiere of Amazon’s Fallout TV series, which has rekindled interest in the post-apocalyptic franchise.

Fallout 76 Player Base Skyrockets by Over 360%

Since the show’s debut, the game’s PC player base has skyrocketed by over 360%, with tens of thousands of players flocking to the wasteland during the second weekend of April alone. On April 14, Fallout 76 recorded its peak concurrent player count of 39,455, marking a 363% increase compared to just four days earlier.

This resurgence in player numbers has been further boosted by a significant discount on Fallout 76 Steam based, which is now available at its lowest-ever price of $7.99 on Steam.

PlayStation and Xbox gamers can also take advantage of this discounted price. The ongoing Fallout franchise sale, which includes discounts on other titles in the series, is set to conclude on April 19.

As an added bonus, Fallout 76 is now free for Prime Gaming subscribers on PC and Xbox, thanks to a promotion that runs until May 15. This offer allows players to permanently add the game to their libraries.

Prime Gaming subscribers can also access Fallout 3: Game of the Year Edition and Fallout: New Vegas Ultimate Edition at no additional cost via Amazon Luna’s cloud gaming service.

Franchise-Wide Resurgence in Player Numbers

The Fallout franchise as a whole has seen a resurgence in player numbers, with Fallout 3, New Vegas, and Fallout 4 all experiencing increased player counts. Fallout 4, in particular, has peaked at 75,000 concurrent players on Steam, placing it at the #22 spot in the 24-hour chart.

Success of Fallout TV Series Adaptation

The success of the Fallout TV series adaptation mirrors that of The Witcher, which also saw a surge in player numbers following the release of its TV adaptation. However, the Fallout London mod has been delayed due to an upcoming update for Fallout 4.

Potential for Long Term Momentum of Fallout 76 Steam

It remains to be seen how long this renewed interest in Fallout 76 will last, but the game’s regular updates and expansive content library suggest that it has the potential to maintain its momentum for the foreseeable future.
