Lakers Anthony Davis and the Warriors Splash brothers Klay Thompson and Stephen Curry battling Game 2 at the NBA Playoffs.
Game 2 of NBA Playoff on Thu night, Golden State Warriors, the reigning Champions, restricted Anthony Davis while allowing LeBron James to score 23. Finally, Klay Thompson’s savage 30 points in 31 minutes, defeated the Los Angeles Lakers 127-100 to even the Western Conference semifinal series at one game each.
Thu night win in San Francisco, enables the Warriors to advance further. They will now of course move to the best-of-seven series starting Saturday in Los Angeles for Game 3.
In Game 1 Anthony Davis had a sterling performance – 30 points, having 23 rebounds, five assists, blocking four shots and shooting 11-for-19,. He followed this up in Game 2 aswell, with a second-quarter burst of 41-points, and a third quarter burst of 43-points.
The Splash Brothers created a new NBA record – 42 3-pointers for Golden State in the first two games of a playoff series. This also included Stephen Curry’s 20 points,12 assists, 12 shots – making seven and shooting 3-for-5.
Kevon Looney, who had a career-high of 23 rebounds in Game 1 but has been battling sickness, was replaced in the starting lineup by JaMychal Green by coach Steve Kerr. In the paint, where Golden State was comprehensively outplayed in the opening game’s loss of 117-112, Kerr went hard at Davis in an effort to present a different look with scoring options and potentially more free-throw chances.
With 7:48 remaining in the third, Thompson’s basket pushed Golden State’s lead to 82-64, and the Warriors kept up their dominance. The Warriors scored more points off of fast breaks and in the paint. JaMychal Green matched his postseason career high with 15 points. Additionally, Draymond Green, who argued he needed to play with more aggression, contributed with 11 points, 11 rebounds, and 9 assists.
For the first time ever in a playoff game, Golden State defeated the Lakers 84-47 in the second and third quarters, scoring two 40-point periods.
Kerr was cool going into Game 2 because Golden State had defeated Boston in Game 1 of the NBA Finals at home the year before, winning the championship.
By overcoming a 2-0 deficit in their first-round series against Sacramento, the Warriors became the first defending champion to ever overcome Sacramento.
