Joe Biden Presidential Election 2024 Announcement for Candidature and Contest
Earlier in the past, Joe Biden, the 46th President of the United States, was elected in 2020 after defeating the incumbent President Donald Trump in a highly contested election.
Likewise, the next United States Presidential Election – 2024, is scheduled for November 5, 2024.
Biden tweeted, “Every generation has a moment where they have had to stand up for democracy. To stand up for their fundamental freedoms. I believe this is ours. That’s why I’m running for re-election as President of the United States. Join us. Let’s finish the job,”.
A Statement released by Vice President Kamala Harris, stated, the 2024 Presidential Election a “Pivotal Moment In Our History.”. Giving full credit to the Presidency, She said, “For two years we have made transformational investments to build a nation in which everyone can be Safe and Healthy, find a good Job, and Retire with dignity”
Abortion Access, LGBT topics such as Same-Sex Marriage, the State of the Economy, and Democratic Backsliding are expected to be leading campaign Issues.
During his presidency, two major rulings which supported ban on Abortion, gave credibility to his promise to ‘finish the job’.
As per reports of the Kaiser Family Foundation, by April 2023, most of the Republican-controlled States had rendered Abortion on the whole “illegal”, thereby nearly banning Abortion.
A major campaign issue is the LGBT issues like Same-Sex Marriage and Transgender Rights.
Moreover, the 2015 ruling which said that Same-Sex Marriage is a fundamental right, is anticipated to be Overturned.
State legislatures across the United States have introduced a whopping 500+ Anti-LGBT bills, as of April 2023. Out of which 200+ going against transgender rights. Largely, access to gender-affirming healthcare will become unavailable to youth.
Biden‘s re-election campaign will face challenges. He may also face criticism from opponents for his policies, his age, or his leadership style. However, his Experience and Track Record in Public Service, having served as a Senator for over 35 years and as Vice President under President Obama, will be an advantage.
