Murray struggled through the first three quarters, before shining through for 23, of his game-high 37 points in the fourth. The Lakers failed to cash-in on their lead in the the second and third quarters, allowing the Nuggets to solidify their hold on the game in the fourth. Austin Reaves (22 points on 5-of-9 3-point shooting) and Rui Hachimura (21 points on 8-of-10 shooting) both played well over D’Angelo Russell (10 points on 3-of-8).
Even LeBron James, who finished the night one rebound shy of a triple-double with 22 points, 9 rebounds, and 10 assists, had some embarrassing moments.
In contrast, Jamal Murray and the Nuggets will try to put the Lakers in a worse position when they play Game 3 in Los Angeles on Saturday. Recall that the Nuggets led the Phoenix Suns 2-0 in their second-round series before dropping the following two games on the road.
As this series moves to Crypto.com Arena for Game 3 on Saturday, May 20, 8:30 p.m. ET, the Lakers are currently down 2-0.
