Nintendo Direct June 2024: Exciting game reveals and updates for Switch enthusiasts.
The highly anticipated Nintendo Direct June 2024 has come to a close, leaving gamers with a whirlwind of thrilling reveals for the Switch console.
This brief but packed livestream showcased a variety of upcoming games, promising an exciting lineup for gamers in 2024 and beyond.
Although there were no updates for Epic Mickey: Rebrushed, Professor Layton and the New World of Steam, or Pokémon Legends: Z-A, there were plenty of surprises to keep fans delighted.
One of the standout moments of the Nintendo Direct June was the new trailer for Metroid Prime 4: Beyond. The attention-grabbing footage confirmed a 2025 release window, setting the stage for a highly anticipated adventure.
Alongside this, fans were treated to the announcement of Mario and Luigi: Brothership, which is set to release on November 7. This new adventure takes the beloved plumbers on an island-hopping journey, promising fun and excitement.
In addition to new games, the Nintendo Direct June also revealed several remakes and updates. Donkey Kong Country Returns HD is making its way to the Switch on January 16, bringing all the original levels from the Wii version and extra levels from the Nintendo 3DS.
Fans of the Dragon Quest series can look forward to the HD-2D remakes of Dragon Quest 1 & 2, set for a 2025 release, with Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake available starting November 14.
The livestream also highlighted exciting RPGs such as Fairy Tail 2 and Fantasian Neo Dimension.
Fairy Tail 2, based on the popular manga by Hiro Mashima, adapts the final arc of the series into an action-packed RPG. Fantasian Neo Dimension, developed by Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi, offers a visually stunning experience set against handcrafted dioramas, arriving soon on the Switch.
Arcade and fighting game enthusiasts were thrilled with the announcement of the Marvel vs. Capcom: Fighting Collection.
This collection includes classic titles such as X-Men: Children of the Atom, Marvel Super Heroes, and Marvel vs. Capcom 2: New Age of Heroes. Another nostalgic addition is the Metal Slug Attack Reloaded, available immediately, reimagining the classic run-and-gun adventure as a tower-defense game.
The Nintendo Direct June also featured new entries in beloved franchises.
The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, launching on September 26, stars Princess Zelda in a brand-new story set in Hyrule. Additionally, a new Zelda-themed Switch Lite will be released alongside the game.
Super Mario Party Jamboree, touted as the biggest Mario Party game yet, will be available starting October 17, with over 110 minigames and online competition modes.
As the Nintendo Direct June concluded, it became clear that Nintendo has an impressive lineup for the latter half of 2024 and into 2025.
From the new adventures of Mario and Luigi to the return of classic games in HD, there is something for every gamer to look forward to. Despite no news about the rumored Switch 2, the focus on current and upcoming Switch titles ensures that fans have plenty to be excited about in the coming months.
