Sprinter Tori Bowie, a former Olympic and World Champion, passed away on Wednesday at the age of 32, her management company announced.

Bowie was raised in Mississippi, where she was born. Before her talent on the track became obvious after winning state medals in the 100 metres, 200 metres, and long jump, she played basketball as a young kid. “As a kid, I just remember racing around, like in the trees,.., anywhere. Tori Bowie had another successful year in 2015, continuing her outstanding run of form by winning the 100-meter dash at the USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships and earning a spot on the American team to participate at the IAF World Athletics Championships in Beijing. At the World Championships, she competed in the 4×100-meter relay and the 100-meter dash, taking home bronze and silver respectively.

She was chosen to represent the United States of America in the 100-meter, 200-meter, and 4×100-meter relay events in 2016. She competed in the 4×100-meter relay and the 100-meter dash at the Rio Olympics, winning a bronze and silver medal, respectively.

Further, Bowie continued her winning streak in 2017 by taking first place in the 100-meter race at the USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, where she won the Gold medal, and in the 100-meter event at the IAF World Championships in athletics, held in London, where she won the Silver medal. Unfortunately, Bowie had a serious injury in 2018 while competing in the indoor season. This required her to miss a sizable amount of the outdoor season.

In her first competition since 2019, she won the 100-meter dash and the gold medal. This was at the USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
