Trump’s initial pick for Attorney General, Matt Gaetz, faced increasing opposition in the Senate due to ongoing scrutiny related to an unreleased House Ethics Committee report detailing serious allegations against him.
Although Gaetz has denied the allegations against him, he acknowledged that he lacked the necessary Senate votes for confirmation and ultimately chose to withdraw his name from consideration, referring to Bondi as “a stellar selection”.
