Tim Scott launches his Campaign for 2024 US Presidential bid

Tim Scott Brief Biography

Tim Scott was raised by his single mother. The challenging times that Scott has been through, has made his family strong and made them believe enough in themselves to succeed in whatever they take up.

Scott, the only Black Republican in the Senate, emphasised on his journey from humble beginnings. In his 40-minute acceptance speech, he credited his humble past, that led him to his current standing. He also asserted to the public that America is not a racist nation.

Scott is the second contender from South Carolina to run for the Grand Old Party (GOP) nomination.

Former governor of South Carolina, Nikki Hale, also announced her candidature in February. It was Haley who chose Scott for the Senate in 2013. Undoubtedly, both Scott and Haley enjoy enormous popularity in their home state South Carolina, which is important for both Republicans and Democrats in early voting. Interestingly, according to a poll in April, Nikki Haley and Scott are performing better in South Carolina than in any other state.

Besides this, Sen. John Thune of South Dakotathe, who is the second-ranked Republican in the Senate, is supporting his friend and coworker. What’s more important to know is that, Thune was briefly present at the North Charleston rally’s opening. His presence is a significant endorsement as the campaign got underway. 

Scott announced his candidature after touring the early voting states like New Hampshire and Iowa. During his “Faith in America” tour, Scott outlined his vision for America, which would focus primarily on issues related to education.

Scott starts this election with very little national name recognition despite of his prominence in the Senate. According to a recent poll, Scott is placed far behind the present and future contenders. Donald Trump, the previous president, occasionally receives more than 40% or even 50% of the vote.
