A heartbreaking Wisconsin school shooting has shaken the close-knit community of Madison on Monday, as a 15-year-old female student opened fire inside Abundant Life Christian School. This tragic incident resulted in the deaths of a teacher and a teenage student, while the shooter also died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. Several others were injured, with two students reported to be in critical condition, according to Madison Police Chief Shon Barnes.

Second-Grader Reports the Wisconsin school Shooting  

The *Wisconsin school shooting* was first reported by a courageous second-grade student who dialed 911 at 10:57 a.m. Police arrived within minutes, turning the scene into a chaotic emergency response.

The shooting took place in a study hall classroom where students of various grades were present.

Shooter Identified as 15-Year-Old Student  

Authorities have identified the shooter as 15-year-old Natalie Rupnow, who reportedly called herself Samantha. Chief Barnes confirmed that she died while being transported to the hospital due to a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The shooter’s family has been cooperating with law enforcement. On Monday afternoon, police searched Rupnow’s home, using stun grenades as part of their investigation.

Despite this, Barnes reiterated that no charges are being pursued against the family at this time.

Victims and Injuries In Wisconsin School Shooting

The *Wisconsin school shooting* claimed the lives of a teacher and a teenage student, while six others sustained injuries.

Two students remain in critical condition, fighting life-threatening injuries at a local hospital. Two other victims have since been discharged, according to medical officials.

Parents and students described the harrowing experience as unimaginable. A sixth-grade student, Adler Jean-Charles, recalled hearing gunshots during his English class. 

Community in Mourning  

Abundant Life Christian School, a K-12 institution with around 420 students, was preparing for its Christmas break when this tragedy struck.

School officials have yet to decide if classes will resume this week, acknowledging the emotional toll on students, staff, and families.

Barbara Wiers, a school administrator, commended the students’ response during the crisis.

“When they heard ‘lockdown, lockdown,’ they knew it was real. They handled themselves magnificently,” she said, praising their training and composure.

Ongoing Investigation and Trauma  

As the investigation continues, authorities are examining possible motives and reviewing writings posted online that may be connected to the incident.

Chief Barnes urged the community to focus on supporting survivors and grieving families. 

Parents are grappling with the emotional aftermath of this event. Mireille Jean-Charles, mother of three students at the school, tearfully expressed her concerns about their trauma.

“We cried and prayed together. They lost friends and teachers, and I don’t think they’ll be okay for a long time,” she said.
