Saturday Nights On Hold When Writers Strike

Other shows like “Saturday Night Live” won’t run a new episode due to the strike. Pete Davidson, a former cast member, and Lil Uzi Vert, a musical performer, were scheduled to serve as hosts for the long-running NBC comedic sketch show.  Production on the new episode starring Davidson was put on hold. On Tuesday, NBC declared that all future new episodes would be cancelled. Instead repeat episodes from March 11, featuring The 1975 hosted by Jenna Ortega will be aired.

In a Saturday morning Social Media video, Davidson is seen giving pizza to striking Writers in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. “Man, you gotta support the Writers!” In the short film, Davidson is heard stating. Without authors, there are no shows. Since Tuesday afternoon, guild members have been picketing outside major studios on the West and East coasts, and there is no sign of an end to the strike.

Drew Barrymores Support To Writers Strike

Expressing her support for the striking WGA members, Drew Barrymore has refused to host the MTV Movie & TV Awards to be held on Sunday. In a statement provided to CNN on Thursday, Barrymore said, “I have listened to the Writers, and in order to truly respect them, I will pivot from hosting the MTV Movie & TV Awards live in solidarity with the strike.” “The making of films and television is the source of all we value and cherish about them. I am choosing to wait until a solution is found, but I’ll be watching from home and hope you’ll join me,” she concluded in her message.

Supporting Drew in her decision to step down as host, Bruce Gillmer, executive producer of the MTV Movie & TV Awards noted that the show will be “going hostless.”

Barrymore will return to host the MTV Movie & TV Awards in 2024, a source familiar to the event told CNN. They also announced that there won’t be a red carpet or press line at the expo this year.

Fate of TV Programmes

A strike may halt production on the majority of television programmes and have a ripple effect on the entertainment sector as a whole, delaying the return of numerous shows scheduled for the autumn.

The most recent television show to be impacted by the strike is the MTV Movie & TV Awards. The Awards ceremony will still be broadcast live on MTV on Sunday at 8 p.m. in the local time zone.
